A second year B. Tech student of NIIT at Warangal last night made an attempt to commit suicide by jumping from the second floor of a hostel in the campus.

Delayed reports said that Mr. Venugopal went to the DASA hostel and jumped from its second floor. A seriously injured Venugopal was immediately rushed to the Rohini Hospital in the town but was later shifted to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad as his condition turned critical.

NIIT sources said mostly foreign students reside in the DASA hostel and the campus officials are unable to figure out the reasons for his going to the hostel. Though it is suspected that he went there to take a plunge in order to commit suicide, it is not yet clearly known what forced him to go to that building.

“If he wanted to commit suicide, there are other buildings as well on the campus. Why should he go there only?” asked a student.

While the campus officials refused to speak on the incident, police have decided to register a case and investigate. (JUBS)
