Police today arrested Telangana Jagruthi chairperson and daughter of KCR, Ms. Kavitha and some Telangana lecturers for trying to lay siege to the assembly.

Hundreds of Telangana lecturers gathered at the martyrs’ memorial at Gunpark and formed a human chain raising slogans in support of the mass general strike and Telangana. After paying tributes to the martyrs at Gunpark, the lecturers proceeded towards the assembly in a rally.

After reaching the assembly, the lectures tried to trespass into the assembly premises but the police asked them to go away as section 144 was in force. Not caring for the police advice, the agitators tried to jump the police barricades arranged outside the main gate and barge into the assembly compound.

Police then arrested Kavitha and some of her supporters and took them to different police stations in the city leading to tension for a while. They were later released on personal bonds.
