The congress high command is all set to overhaul the party and the government in the state by giving importance to the leaders of BCs and SCs as part of the strategy to keep its mass following intact.In tune with this policy, the high command has decided to crown a BC leader with the post of new PCC Chief in place of D. Srinivas. Party sources reveal that ministers Botsa Satyanarayana and Kanna Lakshminarayana are the top contenders for this post, though the former stands a better chance.
The party high command has decided to accord top priority to the BC and SC leaders in both party and government set up based on the report submitted by Union Minister and in-charge of the party affairs in the state Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The congress party has based its decision to elevate Minister Rajanarasimha as Deputy CM on this report only. Rajanarasimha belongs to the backward classes and to the Telangana region and his appointment as Deputy CM would serve the purpose of pleasing backward class people and the T region.
After elevating Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar of the dominant Kamma community as the Speaker, the post of Deputy Speaker is again being given to Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka who is also a SC leader.
4 Reddy ministers to be dropped
The congress leadership has reportedly decided to drop four ministers belonging to the Reddy community as it is of the opinion that Reddys in general are leaning towards YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan reddy irrespective of their party affiliations. As a result, the party has decided to reduce the importance of Reddys and highlight the role of the BCs and SCs in the party and government set-up.
The congress wants to become closer to BCs and SCs by highlighting their role in the party and the government so that they won’t lean towards Jagan and TDP.
Two new schemes
While the party set up will be overhauled with important role being given to the BCs and SCs, the Kirankumar reddy government also may announce two new important plans to attract the women and backwards classes towards it, according to sources.
