Highlighting the problems of farmers, YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy will undertake a 2 day fast at Guntur from May 15.
Announcing this in a media conference in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Jagan said he would undertake the fast demanding an increase in the minimum support price (MSP) of the paddy. “I will put pressure on the government to increase the support price and also buy the coloured and wet paddy,” said Jagan.
He said he will take up this 48-hour fast in support of the farmers of Krishna, Guntur, East and West Godavari districts. “I will put pressure on the government to buy the paddy from the farmers immediately,” he said.
Jagan is also seeking a bonus of Rs.100 per quintal for paddy over and above the MSP and has already instructed his followers and lieutenants to create awareness about his fast among the general public and farmers and bring large number of farmers to the fasting venue.
