 KCR denies merger talk

KcrTRS President K. Chandrasekhara rao denied reports telecast by some TV channels that the TRS would be merged with the congress party in June.

Speaking at a media conference this afternoon, KCR urged media not telecast such false stories and said TRS will continue to exist even after formation of Telangana state.

ABN Andhra Jyothy channel has reported this morning that KCR told a meeting of SMOs that congress chief Sonia Gandhi had insisted on TRS merger with the congress for agreeing to declare Telangana state.  KCR reportedly told the cable operators that he would not mind the merger for the sake of Telangana state, according to ABN Andhra Jyothy. “Sonia said she will declare Telangana in June but asked for the TRS merger with her party,” he reportedly told them.

Denying the reports, KCR said that the TRS will take up the reconstruction work of the Telangana state after its formation and the party will not merge with any other party.

TRS MP Ms Vijayasanthi, MLAs Etela Rajender and Harish Rao also denied the merger talk and said there was no need for TRS to merge with congress now. “Ours is a big party in Telangana and congress is very small party in the region. Why shall we merge with a small party like congress in the state,” Vijayasanthi asked.
