Ponnam Prabhakar, Jeevan get 2-week judicial remand

TleadersArrestedA railway court sent the Karimnagar MP Mr Ponnam Prabhakar and former minister Mr T. Jeevan Reddy to 14 days judicial custody on Sunday for their involvement in the rail roko agitation and obstructing the movement of trains.

Both of them were arrested on Saturday on the first day of the 3-day rail roko observed by the Telangana political JAC across Telangana. They are now lodged in the Karimnagar Central jail.

TRS MLA Mr T. Harish Rao and Warangal MP Mr S. Rajaiah were also sent to 13-day judicial remand by railway courts while Medak MP Vijayasanthi, Sircilla MLA Mr K.T. Rama Rao and Telangana Jagruthi president Ms K. Kavita were arrested and released on conditional bail by courts.

The Secunderabad Railway Court granted bail to Kavitha and 13 others on the condition that they should not participate in any more rail rokos. They will have to appear before the station house officer on every Sunday and Monday between 10 am to 2 pm along with counsel and a woman friend or relative. All of them were released on a self-bond of Rs 5000 and two sureties each.

Cases booked against KCR, Kodanda Ram

Police also booked cases against Telangana Joint Action Committee convener Prof. Kodanda Ram and Telangana Rashtra Samiti president Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao in several districts across the Telangana during the rail roko on October 15. They were booked for instigating the people and obstructing trains and destroying railway property.
