3 TDP MLAs may face axe

manohar-deputy-speakerDeputy Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, who held widespread consultations with legal experts on Sunday, decided to launch disqualification proceedings against three TDP MLAs against whom the party leadership had lodged complaint for anti party activities.

Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar reddy, Y. Balanagi Reddy and Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy may face disqualification for defying the party leadership and working against its interests.

Amid reports of senior leaders of some parties expressing their opinions that Deputy Speaker has no powers to initiate disqualification proceedings against members, legal experts made it clear to Manohar that constitution is very clear on the subject and he can go ahead with the disqualification proceedings.

Advocate-General, Mr A. Sudarshan Reddy had reportedly submitted a detailed note to Mr Manohar stating that Article 180 of the Constitution had empowered the Deputy Speaker to take any decision in the absence of Speaker.
