TDP leadership said today there would be a contest for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the assembly tomorrow and announced its candidates.

While senior leader KE Krishna Murthy will file his proposal for the post of Speaker, another leader Suddala Devaiah will contest for the post of Deputy Speaker.

TDP office announced these names after senior leaders had a detailed meeting with party president Chandrababu Naidu this afternoon at the party headquarters. The two candidates then left for the assembly office to file their proposals.

Meanwhile, Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu said that he requested the TDP to ensure the election of Speaker of the Assembly and Chairman of the Legislative Council unanimously. “I tried to contact the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu by phone but I didn’t get him. Then I requested the other senior leaders of the party not to put up candidates for the two posts,” he said.
