Telangana bandh on Monday

Telangana bandh on Monday Sakala Janula SammePro-Telangana groups have called for a bandh on Monday after the state government clamped down on the agitation. Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhar Rao's son KT Rama Rao was arrested and sent to 14-days in judicial custody on Saturday.

Andhra Pradesh state government also warned private schools of 'de-recognition' if they failed to function normally from Monday.

Rao and 2000 other protestors were also arrested. This came after a rail roko led to more than 170 trains being cancelled.

It was a tug of war between Telangana Joint Action Committee and the Andhra Pradesh government.

While the determined protesters hogged limelight by blocking key railway stations, the State government shot back with 18 companies of paramilitary forces, surveillance helicopter and arrests of MLAs, MPs and activists supporting the rail roko.

Pro-Telangana leaders Vijaya Shanti, Ponnam Prabhakar, Jeevan Reddy, Harish Rao, were arrested by police and sent to 14-day judicial custody. The arrests were made under various provisions of Railway Protection Act and Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Joint Action Committee has called for a Telangana Bandh on Monday.
