State celebrates Sri Ramanavami festival

sri-ramVedic scholars and temple priests today conducted the annual festival of the Kalyanam and the special Pattabhishekam celebrations of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita with full Vedic formalities and religious rituals at the most famous Sri Rama temple in Bhadrachalam of Khammam district.

Chief Minister Kirankumar reddy, accompanied by his wife and family members, visited the temple and offered pearls (Muthyala Talambralu) and silk clothes (Pattu Vastralu) to the deities and witnessed the festivities.

Lakhs of devotees witnessed the festivities and had darshan of the lord on the rare occasion. Long queues of devotees were witnessed since last midnight amid unprecedented security arrangements in and around the temple.

Thousands of devotees including women and children took a dip in the near by Godavari before they had headed for the darshan of the deities of Rama and Sita.

More than 3500 security men guarded the annual celebrations and all incoming vehicles into the temple town were frisked.
