Split in TN Congress!

Indian National Congress [INC] party struggle is still continuing and this time it is in Tamil Nadu. Former Union shipping minister G K Vasan on Monday resigned to Congress and is all set to launch a new party in Tamil Nadu. Vasan took this decision hours after AICC announced on Saturday, the appointment of E V K S Elangovan as the new TNCC chief, replacing Vasan's loyalist B S Gnanadesikan.

This is a major blow to Congress as Vasan's supporters form half of the Congress committee in Tamil Nadu. Pradesh Congress Committee [PCC] treasurer Kovai Thangam and several functionaries in the students wing have also submitted their resignation to the AICC.  Vasan was also upset with AICC's decision not to use the pictures of Kamaraj and Moopanar on new membership cards created.

According to the sources, Vasan will form a new party and will announce it in Trichy. There are also reports that Vasan is looking towards BJP and while Tamil Nadu BJP has said, it is open for any leader who wish to join the party.

AICC and Tamil Nadu Congress remained unavailable to comment on this immediately.
