Mumbai rape victim faints in court

Rape in itself is a horrifying ordeal. When a vitim is made to relive it again and again, it takes a toll.

The reports brought into prominence the fact that an Indian photographer gang-raped in Mumbai in a case that caused violent disturbance for the country collapsed in court on Thursday while she was testifying against her declared attackers.

Furthermore, the 22-year-old had taken the stand to recount her extremely severe experience that took place in an overgrown and abandoned mill compound in central Mumbai in August, while she was out on assignment taking photographs.

In fact, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency that the rape survivor lost consciousness during the deposition subsequent to which they stopped the  the manner of action as well he requested the court that she be referred for medical aid.  The woman was giving ground for belief in the trial of four men declared of raping her, while a fifth young person declared is being tried separately.

Women's rights activists condemned the manner in which the court brought the victim dressed in a Burqa. They have demanded that she allow to testify via a video link. For now, the case is adjourned.
