The tales of blood and dust;Court reopens 1984 anti-Sikh riots

The ruins of those horrific days are still present in the memory of those who have lost their dear ones and seen the black smokes rising up from their burnt houses. The bitter aftermath of Operation Bluestar, the killing of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who ordered to roll down tanks inside the golden temple. As her son Rajiv later expressed that the anti-sikh riot of 1984 was inevitable as according to his words “ the earth shakes when a big tree falls”. This might sound bizarre but with that statement Rajiv Gandhi justified the killings of thousands of innocent Sikhs as merely a reaction to the killing of that metaphoric big tree namely Indira Gandhi.

And after almost 3 decades the ghosts of 1984 riots are still haunting Congress party particularly some of it's senior leader who took active part on the killings of innocent Sikhs mainly in Delhi after Indira Gandhi was shot to death by her own bodyguards in an act of revenge. The latest development regarding the issue is Delhi court on Wednesday ordered reopening of case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler for his alleged involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The court also set aside order of the trial court which has accepted the CBI closure report in 2010 .

Reacting to the court order, the Congress leader said that he has nothing to say about it. "I have nothing to say. Let the CBI re-investigate the case. I have played no role. I have nothing to reveal or hide." Though he may claim himself to be innocent but the family members of the victims surely think otherwise as many of them gave their statement against Tytler, whom they consider to be one of the main architect of the bloody riots.
