Criminal traps firefighters

A New Yorker set a trap for firefighters and killed two of them while managing to injure two more. William Spengler had a long criminal record after being recently bludgeoning her grandmother with a hammer to death. He had an 18 year prison sentence and was out in 1998 on parole but old habits die hard.

What drove him to trap firefighters is not known but he set a house on fire along with a car in Webster on Monday and as soon as firefighters arrived to douse off the fires, Spengler started spraying bullets on them.

In this arson trap, two firefighters were injured and two others, lieutenant Michael Chiapperini, 43, and Tomasz Kaczowka, 19, who were dispatched by 911 for Monroe County were killed. It is reported that the man had rifles and other different types of weapons on him. He later killed himself with a gun to the head. The injured firefighters are said to be stable.

The police mentioned that the accused “had a lot of problems” and speculated certain mental health issues being involved. “We are still trying to find out what set him off,” the official said.
