McAfee arrested in Guatemala, may be deported to Belize

Police in Guatemala held the software guru from USA, John McAfee, the creator of one of the pioneers of anti-virus software under his name on Wednesday for entering the nation illegally. They also mentioned that he would be expelled to Belize, the neighboring country. He earlier ran away from the same after he was summoned for questioning over the murder of his neighbor.

It is already known that the software pioneer had been evading police and absconding since three weeks already. He traveled along with his girlfriend, a twenty year old, to Guatemala. Authorities in Belize sought a few answers from him since he was a person of interest in the murder case of Gregory Faull.

The interior minister of the country termed his entry to the country illegal and sought immediate expulsion from the country. He was detained at a high class hotel in Guatemala City.

His recently eccentric behavior has been raising suspicion in the police departments. However, there was no international arrest warrant that was issued yet and the Belize police believe he is not the major suspect in the case.

Spokesman for Guatemalan Government, Francisco Cuevas said that he would be expelled to Belize by Thursday at most.

McAfee on his part denies connection to the murder in anyway but he was frantic that he would be killed by the authorities of Belize once he appears before them for questioning. PM of Belize described his behavior as “bonkers” and paranoid and assured that there would be nothing of the sort.

In his favor a Guatemalan judge issued a stay on the order that he would be expelled by Thursday. However, the guru’s lawyer said that he would soon have to move to Belize though he has been seeking asylum.
