One year RI for accepting bribe

A man Gulab Bhaguju Dighe had accepted a bribe of Rs 2,500 in 2007 was served with one year of Rigorous imprisonment today after the judgment was passed by the special judge Ravindra Pande. Narayan Ganpat Rupnagar was sentenced to one year RI with Rs 2,000 fine for abetting Dighe in committing the crime.

Dighe was also given one year RI and a fine of Rs 4000 for criminal misconduct according to the Prevention of Corruption Act. However, both the sentences would be served concurrently.

Additional public prosecutor said that Dighe has asked the complainant while in service at Loni Lakbhor a bribe or Rs 2500 to Rupnagar for issuing him a copy of 7/12 extract on January 16, 2007.

Both the culprits were arrested by the anti-corruption bureau after the complaint was lodged. Four witnesses weer questioned before the accused was proven to be guilty.
