PMC employees body found in Parvati Water works

A deadbody was found in the filtration bed of the plant at Parvati water works on Sunday night and the body was identified as one of Pune Municipal Corporation's employee.

It has been speculated and suspected by the police that this was a suicide attempt of the PMC employee who could have dived into the 15 foot deep filtration bed. The civic administration however was keen on assuring the people that the water is safe and intact without being contaminated trying to keep the fears of the people at bay.

Superintendent engineer, Srinivas Kandul, who is in-charge of the water works, told the reporters that the body was taken out of the filtration bed within a few hours of the incident. The water from the filtration bed is chlorinated in the next state usually and hence there is no chance of any contamination, he added.

The prima facie evidece points out that the man who was identified as Ganesh Pasalkar, 42, who hailed from Guruwar Peth had committed a suicide as only civic employees were allowed inside the premises of the water works, the senior inspector Vijaysinh Gaikwad of the Dattawadi Police station has said. He added that the family of Pasalkar had not lodged any complaint and the case was registered as a case of accidental death.
