The number of ticket bookings to London is steadily rising which clearly denotes that the rise in the rupee value and the recession are not that great obstacles for enthusiastic people. Many travel agencies in Pune have reported to have witnessed a 10-20% rise in the number of bookings to London, especially for the Olympics to be held this summer, in July. However, the availability of tickets to the place could be a little troublesome.

Tourist Agencies have said that the festive ceremonies and the live events themselves could be responsible for the increase in the bookings.  Sudhende Sinha, the general manaer of a corporate travel company said “ I have already received 15 to 20 bookings to London. Those tourists who had a Europe Tour plan have included London as an additional stop to witness at least a single event in the Olympics”.

Nikhil Thakurdas, CEO of a travel agency was skeptical that the travel schedules to London for the olympics could be a coincidence in many bookings. He also advised travelers to stay with relatives if possible as the prices for accomodation could be sky high during the olympics.

Akhilesh of another travel agency has also reported a 15-20% growth in the enquiries for the tickets to London compared to the statistics of the same period last year. However there were no confirmations for tickets and he believed that the reasons could be the lack of availability of the tickets to Olympics apart from the high air fares.
