Backed by NDA, the presidential candidate Sangma has filed his nomination for presidential election at 2.30 PM on Thursday. He filed his nomination in the presence of BJP national president Nitin Gadkari, senior leaders LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Vasundhara Raje and Rajnath Singh. Also, present with him when he filed the nomination was Bihar chief minister Naveen Patnaik, Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal.

Earlier, Pranab Mukherjee filed nomination for the presidential candidate this morning. There seems to be a tough competition between Pranab Mukherjee and Sangma.  Several local parties such as TDP and others are yet to decide on the presidential candidate. So, the political analysts are unable to speculate as to who would become the next President.
