The union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee has arrived in West Bengal today. This happens to be his first visit to the state after the UPA declared him as the presidential candidate. Pranab Mukherjee would visit his home town Meerati in Bheerbham district. He is expected to perform special rituals at the bungalow of his ancestors. He will also meet his sister in another village and take blessings from her.
