Efforts of didi went waste as APJ Abdul Kalam, for whom Mamata Banerjee started an official page of facebook and campaigned for the former Prez, declared that he was not in the presidential race. Now, the country's attention has turned towards Mamata didi. Who would be the next candidate that TMC would support? This is not just the question of media, but the entire nation. And Trinamool Congress leaders said the final decision of the party would be taken by didi alone.

Abdul Kalam would have presumably become the President for the next time had he not backed out from the race, said many political analysts. NDA was in support of Kalam and UPA's ally TMC was also in favour of Kalam. Many other regional parties such as TDP would have also supported Abdul Kalam as presidential candidate, explained experts. Kalam's decision not only disappointed political circles but even the public at large (despite knowing that common people had no role to play in presidential polls).

Now that Kalam is not in the race, former speaker Sanghma is likely to get the support of TMC as Sanghma is NDA's second choice. Although Congress hoped Mamata would take a U turn and support Pranab Mukherjee, politics expersts observed that Mamata Banerjee is a person ruled by ethics and consciousness and she taking a U turn or backtracking would be out of the question.
