8 national birds die of heat stroke

At least eight peacocks were perished due to heat stroke in Hassanpur village in Gurgoan on Monday. The incident came to light when the villagers informed the wildlife department about the incident. The officials who arrived immediately have take another two peacocks, which were seriously ill, to the hospital.

The veterenary doctor, Devender Singh Joon, who conducted post mortem on the national birds said that peacocks died due to overheat. Another social worker, who showed his solidarity over the death of eight peacocks has said that ponds in Aravali hills are being dried up due to summer heat. That could be the reason behind the death of peackocks, he added.

The experts said that the temparature in hilly regions would be at least two to three degree Celcius more compared to the temparature in plains.
