Big B gives cheques to poor farmers

Big B Amitabh Bachchan has rescued as many as 90 farmers who were in debts. He has handed over cheques to them late last night. All the farmers who received monetary help from the legendary actor hailed from Wardha district of Maharashtra.

The total amount of all cheques was Rs. 30 lakh. All the debt ridden farmers were selected by the Rotary Club of Gandhi City Wardha and Rotary Club of Mumbai.

When Amitabh Bachchan expressed his interest to contribute to the poor farmers, Rotary Club of Gandhi City Wardha that plunged into the action has visited the district and selected a list of eligible farmers who were 300 in number. They all were scrutinized. Once the list was prepared, the same was sent across Amitabh Bachchan.

Representatives from Amitabh Bachchan have gone through the list and visited the district for further scrutiny. The list of 30 farmers was cut short to 114. And out of those 114 farmers, 90 of them received the cheques by the hands of Amitabh Bachchan. The remaining farmers who were not present at the venue would still be getting their cheques as the Rotary Club would forward the cheques to the remaining 24 debt ridden farmers.

Amitabh Bachchan’s act of helping the debt ridden farmers is surely worth hailing. With farmer deaths and suicides escalating everyday, it is the need of the hour for every celebrity to come forward and lend their monetary support to the farmers. (Phani)
