US State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told reporters at her daily news conference in Washington on Wednesday that there is no change in the policy of providing visa to the Indian students and interviewing applicants. Last week, Education Ministers of four Indian States - Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir - had visited several US cities to have a firsthand experience of the community colleges in the United states.

The United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon will arrive in New Delhi today on a four-day official visit to India with a high-level delegation. It is expected that Ban’s visit will provide an opportunity to share India’s perspectives on major regional and global issues. During his stay in India, Ban will be visiting Delhi and Mumbai. During the Delhi leg of his visit, the Secretary General will be hosted by External Affairs Minister S M Krishna. He is also scheduled to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and will also call on the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The Secretary General is also being conferred an honorary doctorate by Jamia Millia Islamia University. Ban will be accompanied by his wife, Madam Ban Soon-taek also.  While in Mumbai on Saturday, the Secretary General will meet the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan. He is also scheduled to visit some UN development projects in Mumbai and participate in a Millennium Development Goals related event.(NSSNS)
