The Hindi entertainment channel that was struggling for getting target rating points (TRPs) has finally decided to step out of the TRP war between the entertainment channels. The channel is going to close down its office from Thursday. It may be noted that Imagine TV was even dominated by the newly launched Life Ok channel.

Imagine TV is run by US based Turner Broadcasting System Inc, which also operates HBO, CNN, Pogo and Cartoon Network channels in India.  Turner bought a major stake from NDTV to run Imagine TV. According to the company’s reports, Imagine TV performed very poor in terms of TRPs and that the company could not invest any more on that channel.

Although the main reasons as to why the channel lagged behind could not be known, television experts are of the opinion that homemakers watching daily soaps was yesterday’s  affair  and a large number of people watching TVs are youths, and Imagine TV failed to catch the pulse of the Indian television viewers although the quality of the channel was good.

On the other hand, Imagine TV is liked by many middle aged women who are likely going to miss many of its serials such as Chandragupta Maurya. (Phani)
