This is a pathetic case of ill treatment meted out to a wife by her husband whom she had initially refused to marry. The whole torture is planned as revenge.

The police arrested a Pune based engineer Imran Shaikh for ill treating his wife in the most horrendous way, based on her complaint. Police have arrested the husband under sections 498 (A) (matrimonial cruelty), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. They are also on the look out of his kith and kin who had aided him in the act.

As per the complaint of the wife, Shaikh was earlier rejected by her for all the vices he had possessed. But later he convinced her that for her sake he had denounced everything by going on a three day total fast. Believed in to the story the wife got married.  But with in a fortnight Shaikh started showing his true colors.   He used to beat her, and even went to the extent of having sex with other women in her presence. Most often used to drink with his friends at his house and used to compel the lady to have sex with his friends, for which the lady bluntly refused. Hence she was thrown out of house along with her 18months old son. The husband would repeatedly beat her and demand Rs.5lakhs as dowry to buy a car.

After having thrown out of house nine months back, the lady who hails from Kalyan, launched a complaint with the police and they have arrested the husband. The court has sent him to remand till February 23.  (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
