As per the election commission orders the statues of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and her party symbol Elephant are getting covered. Initially there was a dispute between the Lucknow Development Authority and the UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam as to who should cover the statues in the state. Finally the issue was settled and the covering process has begun.

Noida Authority and Gautam Budh Nagar administration had received the Pink plastic sheet steering away from any party colour resemblance.  The covering of the remaining 30 stone and 22 bronze elephants at Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal, shall commence from tomorrow. The two statues of the CM in the park shall be covered with cloth. In Lucknow also, the work shall commence with Khaki cloth.
