Lokpal controversies in Delhi find firing at Kolkata, 2 TMC MP face music

The Lokpal bill voting in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday at Delhi had its toll in Kolkatta, where the Queen Bee is angry with MPs who defied her.

Lokpal is in the air all across the nation. The latest news is the iron Lady of West Bengal is ready to serve show cause notice to two of her own MPs who defied her decision and supported the bill. The Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee today, is likely to issue the notices to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs Sudip Bandopadhyaya and Kalyan Banerjee. Both the MPs are said to have defied the CM by supported the Lokpal Bill in Rajya Sabha on Thursday without consulting her after meeting Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

The quotes of the party in the house during the raging controversies over the bill, which extended beyond midnight, are given by its MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy. He expressed the following points: TMC opposes Lokpal Bill in Rajya Sabha with respect to provision on setting up of Lokayuktas. Bill seeks to encroach upon authority of states which we are opposed to. TMC feels Lokayukta is unconstitutional and anti federal. He requested the government to delete Chapter 3.
