Fake mafia man extorts in Mumbai, nabbed on the 11th attempt

A soft drinks distributor in Mumbai made calls to prominent business men in the city and demand money faking as an associate of Don Chhota Rajan. Allegedly, on his 11th extortion he attempted in the name of notorious underworld mobs, he was nabbed by the cops.

The 40-year-old accused, called a business man and asked him to remit Rs. 5 Lakhs, as per the command of the don. He also threatened the business man of dire consequences if he failed. The man complained to the police who traced the caller and laid a trap. A dummy suitcase was placed at the venue where the accused had instructed. The accused arrived at the spot to collect the booty unawares. The sleuths who were waiting for him immediately nabbed him. The accused Mohammad Mukhtar Alam Sheikh came by a Santro car to the spot. On interrogation it was revealed that the car was also stolen from Mulund.

Police have registered a case under Section 383 (extortion) of the IPC, and produced the accused in the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court which remanded him to police custody till December 12.

During interrogations, Sheikh revealed that he is a distributor of cold drinks in western suburbs and he owns three godowns in the rich metropolis. He confessed that he has made extortion calls to around 10 businessmen from the western suburbs in the names of Hemant Pujari, Ravi Pujari and Chhota Rajan. And many have paid the ransom too.
