Metallica show abandoned, police arrest 4 persons

MetallicaDelhi police have arrested four persons connected with the American heavy metal band Metallica’s maiden concert in India for cheating thousands of fans by abandoning the high-profile show scheduled for Friday night at Delhi.

The organizers had announced postponement of the show to Saturday minutes before it was to take off at 7:30 PM at the Leisure Valley at Gurgaon on the outskirts of Delhi and the disappointed crowds became unruly attacking the stage and destroying the equipment.

DNA Networks, the organizer of the event, said F1 Rocks and Metallica decided to postpone the event to Saturday due to technical difficulties. However, it was revealed later that the police didn’t give permission to the Saturday show. The police had arrested the four key persons in the event management company. Those arrested include Ashok, Rajesh, Savia Faleio and Umesh.

Police said that they didn’t permit the show for security reasons and announced they had arrested the four managers under sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.

DNA networks announced it would repay the ticket amounts collected in full to the patrons.

Thousand of fans waited with bated breath to hear the rock band belt out their biggest hits from ‘Nothing Else Matters’ and ‘Enter Sandman’ to ‘One’ and ‘Seek and Destroy’. The US music band is in India to make its debut presentation coinciding with Formula One. They are due to perform in Bangalore on Sunday.
