Family tragedy due to financial crisis in Abu Dhabi

Family tragedy due to financial crisis in Abu DhabiSuccumbing to the mounting debts burden an Indian family from Kerala had no alternative.

The decomposed bodies of an Indian family were Anil Kumar Nair, 44, his pregnant wife Sreeja, 31, and daughter Anusree, 8, found at their residence.

Police sources said according to forensic investigations, the man and his wife allegedly hanged their daughter, and then committed suicide by hanging themselves in their house due to financial problems.

It is been noted that Nair, was into trailers business and had taken around Dh 300, 000 in loans from banks to purchase trailers. One of his trailers was involved in a major accident in Oman, causing huge financial losses, which might have added to the woes.

Ras Al Khaimah Indian Association, which is making efforts to repatriate the bodies, said it has applied for out passes from the Indian Consulate in Dubai for Sreeja and Anusree as Nair had kept the passports with a money lender.

The distress could have been averted if Nair sought help from community organizations, as we have already helped a family in a similar situation recently, said Gopa Kumar, General Secretary of Ras Al Khaimah Indian Association.

More than financial help, moral support to face the situation will save such families and we have two such examples informed Sethu Nath, President of Kerala Samajam in Ras Al Khaimah.
