Ranjitha out, seeks action against Sun TV

rajaniAfter her forced sabbatical of nearly 15 months following the exposure of the sexual deeds of the tainted Swami Nityananda of Bangalore city over the Sun TV network, actress Ranjtha came out into the open and decided to take revenge against those who allegedly defamed her.

Ranjitha, accompanied by her supporters and lawyers, met the Chennai Police Commissioner Mr Tripathy on Tuesday in his chambers and lodged complaint against Sun TV network and its sister publication Dinakaran for defaming her and portraying her in bad light. She also named Tamil publication Nakheeran and Mr Lenin, a follower of the swami, in the complaint.

Ms Ranjitha later told journalists the Sun TV network had breached her constitutionally-assured privacy relentlessly by telecasting a spurious video footage on March 2, 2010 and publicizing that it was she who was involved in the alleged sexual deeds with the swami.

The telecast was followed by the publication of obscene articles and images by Dinakaran and Nakheeran and a few others, she added. When asked why she kept silent all these days, she said she was threatened by the Sun TV people not to come to Chennai.

“I now have faith in the chief minister Jayalalitha and the police commissioner and I have confidence of getting justice in the case,” she said adding she sought action from the police under the indecent portrayal of women Act and IT Act.

The police commissioner said actress Ranjitha’s complaint was transferred to the Central Crime station.
