In a day light brutality in one of the busy thoroughfares of Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, four persons tripped a man driving a motor cycle and stabbed him to death in the presence of hundreds of motorists and pedestrians who watched the gory killing in a state of horror but did nothing to prevent the murder.
The incident was however recorded on the CC television cameras mounted on the traffic signals and police arrested the killers based on the video footage with in 48 hours.
The camera recording showed two men stopping the motorist deliberately near a traffic signal after which two others joined them. While three of them assaulted him, the fourth one stabbed him with a knife. Again, one of them was shown attacking the victim with heavy rock on his head.
Deputy Commissioner of Police S Nijamuddin expressed displeasure at the behaviour of the crowd and motorists who did nothing to prevent the murder in day light. “They should have done something to stop the killers from killing the man,” he said.
“After reaching the spot, we only called for ambulance for taking the man to hospital but he was declared brought dead by the doctors,” he said adding it was very unfortunate that no one in the crowd thought of calling for the ambulance and taking him to the hospital.
“The killers had earlier had a brawl with the victim at a wine shop and this was the reason for the murder,” he said.
