Prithvi-II missile successfully test fired

Prithvi-II missile successfully test firedIndigenously-built surface-to- surface Prithvi-II missile, capable of carrying nuclear warheads ranging from 500 to 1,000 kg was successfully test-fired today for its full range of 350 km by the Indian Army from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur off the Orissa coast.

The test of the single stage, liquid fuelled missile, which has been already inducted into the Army, hit the target with a high degree of accuracy, according to the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) sources.

The test of the 9-meter tall missile was conducted by the personnel of Strategic Force Command as part of a regular user training exercise. Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister, V.K. Saraswat, top officials from SFC and DRDO scientists were witness to the launch.
