TN Minister killed in road accident

TN Minister killed in road accident Tamil Nadu Minister for Environment and Minorities welfare Mr. N. Mariam Pitchai, 60, died in a road accident in Tiruvelangurichi in the wee hours of Monday.
 
The accident took place at about 40 km from Chennai when the Minister’s vehicle collided with another vehicle moving ahead of his convoy during his return journey to Chennai from Tiruvelangurichi.
 
Minister for Sports and Youth welfare N. R. Sivapathy, who was travelling with Pitchai, was injured in the accident. The two ministers were returning to Chennai after garlanding the statue of Perumpidugumutharyar.
 
The body of Pitchai was taken to his native place Madurai. Pitchai, a councilor of Tiruchi Corporation, had won from the Madurai west constituency in the last month’s assembly elections defeating former Transport Minister K.N. Nehru.
