Chopper found crashed, Khundu could be dead

khandu deadUnion Home Minister P. Chidambaram announced in Delhi a little while ago that the search and rescue teams looking for the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu’s missing helicopter had found the crash site in Lugudhang.

Army helicopters also found three bodies at the crash site but it was not yet confirmed whether the crashed chopper is the one that carried the Chief Minister. “But surely, the crash site falls in the flight path of the CM’s helicopter,” he said.

Chidambaram however added that a team of Army men which is on its way from Kyela will reach the crashed site shortly and after that only the authorities would be able to confirm whether Khandu’s body was among the three spotted.

Both Kyela and Lugudhang are located about 4,900 meters above sea level and the distance between Kyela and Lugudhang is about 10 km, Chidambaram informed.

CM Dorjee Khandu’s Pawan Hans AS350 B-3 helicopter went missing Saturday morning and army and air force helicopters have launched a vigorous manhunt for the missing helicopter since then.
