Temple treasure to be documented from Nov 9

AndaBoseDirector General of National Museum C.V. Ananda Bose said today that the documentation of the gold treasure unearthed in the cellars of Sree Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala would begin on Nov 9.

Addressing media persons in Thiruvananthapuram, Mr Bose, head of the five member expert panel set up by the Supreme Court for the purpose of preserving the temple wealth, said they would fulfill all formalities stipulated by the apex court.

The Supreme Court has also set up a three-member committee headed by a judge and Mr Bose is heading the joint committee of the two expert panels. The two committees held their meetings today and discussed the steps to be taken for the documentation of the wealth estimated to be worth more than Rs.1 lakh cr.

He said the two committees will meet again on Nov 4 and decide the further steps to be initiated for the said purpose. Sources said that a highly specialized agency will assist the committees in its task of documentation.
