Remand extended for illegal mining scam accused
The CBI special court at Nampally in Hyderabad today extended till March 21 the judicial remand of BV Srinivasa Reddy, Rajagopal and suspended IAS officer Srilakshmi, all accused in the illegal iron-ore mining case involving the former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.
As their remand ended today, CBI judge Nagamaruthi Sarma conducted the hearing through video-conferencing and announced extension of their custody.
The accused have been lodged in the Chanchalguda jail while the key accused Gali Janardhan reddy has been shifted to Bangalore on the request of the CBI there for his questioning in the illegal mining scam involving his company Associated Mining Company.
Andhra wing of the CBI arrested him on September 5 last for his role in the illegal mining scam involving his mining company OMC.
The court also extended the judicial custody of Emaar scam accused BP Acharya and Koneru Prasad till March 9 and that of Sunil Reddy till March 21.
The court had further deferred till March 16 hearing on the petition filed by Emaar case accused Mr Tummala Ranga Rao seeking permission to turn approver in the case. (J)
