Telugu Cinema Heroine, 'Still a glam Doll'???

We have films like ‘Arundhati’ take talk about the power of a Woman… other flicks like ‘Anukokunda Oka Roju’, that revolve around Woman… suspense thrillers like ‘Mantra’, ‘Mangala’, Kavya’s Diary’, that try projecting darker side of a Woman… award winning films like ‘9 Nenalu’, that try to project the mindset of a Indian Woman… all these are the films that released in past 5 years… not only in these years, even of all these 75+ years of Telugu Cinema, right from the Golden era, till date we have n number of films that focus a journey of women in different genre…

Even though, it is hard to accept today’s Telugu Cinema focuses a heroine as a glam doll and nothing much at a major extent… you want me to give some examples??? Okay, flicks like ‘Dookudu’, ‘Shakti’, ‘kantri’, Sneha Ullal in ‘Simha’, ‘Dammu’ are the examples in which heroine is a part of the film for the heck of it…

It is pathetic to see both the heroines are projected not only as glam dolls but also women with only one intention that is to get their guy in recent release ‘Dammu’… even though, when compared to earlier, despite of big heroes ka films, even heroines having some job to do, it is hard to see films that project heroine only as a material to songs and some sequences…

On contrary, directors like Puri Jagannath, Gautam Menon, Trivikram Srinivas, Nandini Reddy, ‘Bommarillu’ Bhaskar are some who would concentrate on giving equal importance even to the lead ladies…
