India wins U 19 World cup beats Australia

Indian colts gift the Malayalee brethren a happy Onam by winning the U 19 World Cup finals played in Townsville Australia. Indian Skipper Unmukt Chand sent the former World Champions on a leather hunt all through the field while slamming an unbeaten 11 runs. India wipe up the Oz players by bagging the world sup title for the third time with six wickets remaining and 14 balls to spare, today.

Magnificent skill play in meticulous fashion ushered victory for the Indian colts at the opposition's home land. The oppositions who won the toss and elected to bat set a target of 226 run. And the defending champs cruised the uphill task at top speeds. The match was a cynosure for ardent cricket fans.

Australia posted a mammoth total  of 226 after losing three early wickets in quick succession for just 38 runs. But later bounced back into the game with some wonderful batting of  Trevor Head and captain William Bosisto who harnessed a partnership of 65 runs between them. The Aussie skipper made a tremendous impact by scoring unbeaten 87 runs and claimed the Man of the series award. However it was Indian bowler Sandeep Singh who had the last laugh to see the Aussies crumble with his 4/54 average.

The turning point in the roller coaster ride of the Indian batting line up was when the Aussie skipper lost the catch of the Indian skipper, at 84 runs, in the last overs of the game. None of the home team bowlers could contain the Indian batsmen much. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
