Unprecedented security for Delhi match

India-Netherlands match, unprecedented security for Delhi cricket matchUnprecedented security arrangements are being made for the tomorrow’s India-Netherlands group B World Cup match at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground in Delhi in view of the terrorist threat looming large over the match.

Special security personnel and private security guards, in addition to hundreds of volunteers, are being deployed to ensure smooth running of the match. As the organizers are expecting capacity crowd at the stadium, the police are also working on special traffic arrangements diverting traffic on some important routes in the city.

Police have also conducted several mock drills at the stadium to prepare themselves for the match and to ensure problem-free security precautions. Hundreds of private security guards and volunteers are going to take up positions across the stadium.

“We have taken all possible precautions and have put in place all necessary safety measures to avoid any untoward incident. The disaster management team is also being deployed for the event,” an official said.
