Remand extended for Emaar accused

The CBI special court today extended till Feb 15 the judicial remand of the Emaar scam accused Mr BP Acharya, Koneru Prasad, Sunil Reddy and Vijayaraghavan.

The court also adjourned till Feb 3 hearing on the bail petition filed by IAS officer Acharya who was arrested on Monday by the CBI.

The court extended their remand after the CBI submitted the charge sheet in the case late in the evening. Since morning all the accused, except for Acharya who has been admitted to the NIMS, have been made to wait in the court itself.  The accused were then shifted to the Chanchalguda jail.

The CBI told the court that it would file a supplementary charge sheet soon and name Sunil Reddy and Vijayaraghavan as accused in that.

Meanwhile, NIMS Director Dr Dharma Rakshak told journalists that the health of Acharya is very steady and there is no cause for worry. “We have conducted several medical tests on his health and everything is normal,” he said, adding his health is being monitored by a team of specialists.  (JUBS)
