It’s been 100 days since P. Ramya and her two relatives died because of negligence by a drunk driver at Banjara Hills. Ramya’s family has been demanding justice but city police did not even file a charge sheet.

As per the procedure, an investigating police officer has to file a charge sheet within 90 days of the mishap but the police did not do so. Instead, when the investigation officials from Banjara Hills police station were questioned about the same, they said that “the probe is still going on and that is the reason why they were not filing a charge sheet. “

This led to the culprit coming out on bail on October 3. Five-year-old Ramya’s parents ask “why the police are going slow in the case when an enormous amount of evidence.”

“We do not understand why the police are not filing a charge sheet in this case. They have got CCTV footages, confessional statement of the culprits and other evidence. Why are they saying that there is a delay in the investigation? This case is one of the biggest in the city. Even then the cops are going slow,” said Ramya’s father P. Venkat Ramana. He even has approached police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy and submitted a complaint on the issue.

The investigation official, Banjara Hills police inspector K. Srinivas, said that “they were waiting for the expert opinion. The CCTV footage of the mishap has been sent to the forensic lab for examination. We are waiting for their opinion. Till then, we cannot file the charge sheet.”

Sanjana who was injured in the mishap, her condition still remains critical with no sign of improvement. On top of this, her family who was shocked when they got to know that the police has not done any follow-up on the FIR filed against the drunk driver. Ramya's father Venkat Ramana feared that “Injustice might be done in Sanjana's case too.”
