Indian tennis top trio bow out

Indian top tennis trio bow out on Tuesday in Wmbledon in the men's doubles section. The men's doubles partners Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna bowed out of Wimbledon with their defeat in straight sets to Mikhael Elgin and Denis Istomin with 5-7 6-7 (3) 3-6 in two hours and four minutes.

On the other hand ace tennis player Leander Paes paired with Radek Stepanek also lost to Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo in a grueling weather-hit five-setter with 6-4 3-6 4-6 7-6(2) 6-8 after fighting for three hours and 42 minutes. It was dismay to the pair as they were vying for their second Grand Slam title together after winning the Australian Open in January.

The three of them involved in a major controversy with the AITA over the team selections to the London Olympics are out of Men's doubles  at wimbledon. However the sole solace to India, is that Leander will stay back as he is competing in the mixed doubles paired with Elena Vesnina. The pair is right now comfortably placed in the second round of the tournament.

In the women's singles event Serena William storms her way into the semis by overpowering the defending champion Petra Kvitova 6-3, 7-5 in the quarterfinals Tuesday at the All England Club. On Thursday, Williams will play No. 2 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, the reigning Australian Open champion in the semis. (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
