Aarushi murder case: Nupur Talwar surrenders

The 14-year-old murdered girl Aarushi’s mother, Nupur Talwar has surrendered before the Central Bureau of Investigation special court on Monday.  The moment she surrendered, the advocates of Nupur Talwar moved bail petition on which CBI is yet to react. Nupur, in her bail plea, has stated that she won’t evade court proceedings and mentioned that he passport was with the court. She has also said that sending her to judicial custody will not serve any purpose.

She arrived in the court with her husband Rajesh Talwar and her mother. She surrendered before the court as directed by the Supreme Court.

It may be recalled that Aarushi Talwar was found dead under suspicious circumstances on May 16, 2008 with a slit throat at her residence in Noida while the domestic servant was also found dead on the terrace the next day. The case was earlier dealt by Uttar Pradesh police and the case was later shifted to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

While warrants were issued on both parents in alleged honour killing, Rajesh Talwar got bail  last month and Nupur was asked to appear in court with in 30 days. Nupur, however, didn’t appear and a non-bailable warrant was issued on her on April 11, which was challenged by Nupur in the Supreme Court. The apex court refused to stay the non-bailable warrant and ordered Nupur to surrender before the court. (Phani)
