RGIA Metro Work: Revanth Reddy orders Speedy Execution:- Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed Hyderabad Metro Rail officials on Tuesday to modify the route of two lines leading to the Shamshabad Airport Metro. One line will pass through MGBS via the Old City, while the other will go from LB Nagar, effectively closing the five-kilometer gap between Nagole and LB Nagar Metro Rail stations. Revanth Reddy also ordered officials to temporarily halt the BRS' Raidurg-Airport 31-kilometer Metro plan, which was projected to cost Rs 6,250 crore. This decision was made due to the presence of wide roads on the ORR. The Chief Minister urged Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) managing director N.V.S. Reddy to promptly conduct traffic studies and prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for the revised airport Metro alignment through the Old City and from LB Nagar.

Furthermore, he instructed the HMRL chief to explore the feasibility of constructing a section of the Metro at road level in the Laxmiguda-Jalpally-Mamidipally stretch. This would be possible due to the 40-foot-wide central median without any obstructions. "This has the potential to reduce the cost of Metro Rail construction," he added. To optimize transportation options for commuters, Revanth Reddy has urged the HMRL chief to refine the Phase-II proposals in collaboration with the HMDA commissioner. Additionally, he has instructed the MA&UD principal secretary and HMDA commissioner, M. Dana Kishore, and CMO principal secretary, V. Seshadri, to identify available government land along this route for transit-oriented development (TOD). This approach would not only contribute to the funding of the airport Metro project but also promote the growth of the Old City and its surrounding areas. By reducing distances and costs for commuters, the new alignment will accommodate a greater number of localities. In addition, the Chief Minister has directed N.V.S. Reddy to devise plans for Metro extensions that will support the comprehensive development of the city.

Proposals have been requested for multiple routes, including Miyapur-Chandanagar-BHEL-Patancheruvu (14 km), MGBS-Falaknuma-Chandrayanagutta-Mailardevpalli-P7 Road-airport (23 km), Nagole-LB Nagar-Owaisi Hospital-Chandrayanagutta-Mailardevepalli-Aramgarh-New High Court site at Rajendranagar on NH (adjacent to Agricultural University main gate) (19 km), the extension of Corridor-III from Raidurg station to Financial District (Wipro lake Jn/American consulate) via Biodiversity Jn, IIIT Jn, and ISB road (12 km), and LB Nagar-Vansathalipuram-Hayathnagar (8 km). In the coming days, preparations will be made to compose a letter addressed to Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union urban development minister. In addition, they were advised to include the extension of the Metro from Taramatipet to Narsingi, passing through Nagole and MGBS, spanning a distance of 40 kilometers, along the Musi riverfront.
