Telangana Passes the New Municipal Act:- Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was focused much on the new Municipal Act and in a major development, the act has been passed in a two-day special session in Telangana Assembly that was held on June 18th and 19th. KCR instructed the officials to formulate the new 'Urban Policy' along with the new rural and revenue policies. KCR also said that as part of the new Urban Policy, a new Municipal Act, new Corporations’ Act and new Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act should be brought.

KCR also recommended a new Act for Hyderabad Metro Development Authority (HMDA). Telangana will now have 128 municipalities in the state. We will give ample allocations said KCR in the Legislative council. The number of districts are now increased to 33. Rapid urbanization is taking place after many Mandal headquarters now turned district headquarters. GHMC and the HMDA struggling to keep up with encroachments of lakes and illegal constructions because of which the new Municipal Act was introduced.

The municipal corporations came up to 13 now. Rs 7,000 crore annually and Rs 35,000 crore in five years are allotted for the development of villages. A provision for a 'green budget' has also been laid down, constituting 10% of the total municipal budget. More power will be granted to the state government. House tax will also be only Rs 100 annually, while their registration fee will be just Rs 1.
