Crucial Milestone For Kanti Velugu In Telangana:- Telangana Government introduced Kanti Velugu for the people of the state for eye screening programme that covers all the sections of people in the state. Kanti Velugu programme crossed half million mark in Telangana yesterday. Kanti Velugu is expected to cross one million mark soon and the government is also in plans of distributing free reading glasses for all those who require glasses. Kanti Velugu programme was launched on August 15th and it covered 12,470 villages in 39 days with eye camps held across the villages during the weekdays in Telangana.

A total of 50,25,544 people underwent eye screening after Kanti Velugu got initiated. To prevent blindness across the people, Telangana government started Kanti Velugu programme. With several elderly people suffering with eye related issues and ignoring them, Telangana government started Kanti Velugu. Health Minister C Laxma Reddy revealed that he is quite happy with the response. Free reading glasses have been issued to 9.73,036 people. A total of 799 teams with over 940 medical officers, 1000 optometrists and 8000 support staff are working on Kanti Velugu on regular basis.
