Man Forced to Carry Wife’s Dead Body on Pushcart for 60km

In another shocking incident, a man from Telangana carried his wife's body on a pushcart for about 60 km as he did not have money to arrange an ambulance.

Ramulu, a beggar and his wife Kavitha both were suffering from Leprosy. Kavitha died near Lingampally railway station in Hyderabad on Friday. Ramulu wished to take her body to his village but he did not have money.

So, he walked all the way from Hyderabad to his village by carrying his wife's dead body on a pushcart. He left Hyderabad on Friday morning but missed his way in the night. He reached Vikarabad on Saturday after walking for about 60 km.

When locals saw him, they immediately alerted the police. The locals even gave money and also called for an ambulance to take his wife's body to Sangareddy in Medak district.

"After his wife's death, he decided to conduct her last rites in his native village and asked some local private carriers for shifting her body, who asked him for Rs.5,000. As he did not have any money with him to hire any vehicle, Ramulu put Kavitha's body on a pushcart and walked all along till Vikarabad and reached here last afternoon," Vikarabad Town Circle Inspector G Ravi said.

As the couple was leprosy-affected, the man was asked to perform all the last rites without any help from relatives.
