Heavy Rainfall for Next 24 Hrs in AP & TS: IMD

The India Meteorological Department reportedly warned of heavy rainfall in all districts of Telangana till Tuesday. IMD also gave heavy rainfall warning  for costal Andhra Pradesh districts till Monday along with Telangana.

According to AccuWeather, Hyderabad will witness heavy rainfall for most part of the day and night on Monday. Rainfall of 1-2.5 cm is estimated to be recorded.

Telangana witnessed the southwest monsoon which has been active over a period of time. Till Sunday, rainfall was experienced at many places over the state. The maximum rainfall recorded was 17 cm in Karimnagar followed by 12 cm at Thimmapur, also in Karimnagar district, and 8 cm at Suthapalle in Khammam district.

In a shocking incidnt,  a person, identified as Pawan Kumar of Subhashnagar in Karimnagar districtr, was washed away in a drain near the Ambedkar stadium. In another incident a wall collapse was reported at a mosque in One Town. Many low lying areas in  Karimnagar got inundated. As soon as Finance minister Etela Rajender got to know about those incidents he visited rain affected areas and took stock of the situation.

In Hyderabad rain occurred for most part of the day on Sunday and till evening 6.4 mm of rainfall was recorded. The maximum temperature across the state remained below 31ºC. Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 28.4ºC on Sunday.

Now, even land slides are being witnessed as was seen at the Out Ring Road near Pedda Amberpet. Huge boulders came crashing to the ground on the road on Saturday evening. Luckily, traffic was thin on the stretch owing to the incessant rainfall.

Meanwhile, low lying areas were submerged in several parts of the city due to the rainfall. They included Khairtabad, Banjara Hills, Serilingampally, Chandanagar, Balanagar, Narayanguda and parts of old city. Prolonged power cuts were also reported from Chikkadpally, Baghlingampally, LB Nagar, Uppal and Tarnaka.

Rain occurred at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema regions. In coastal Andhra Pradesh, the maximum rainfall recorded was 8 cm in Kukunoor in West Godavari followed by 6 cm at Macherla, Guntur, and 5 cm at Kandukur in Prakasam districts.

In Rayalseema, 7 cm rainfall was recorded at Satyavedu in Chittoor district. Nellore and Tirupati recorded the highest temperature in AP at 37º Celsius. In most other places, the maximum temperature was recorded bewteen 31 and 35ºC.
